Asking and Receiving with Grace and Style - Amanda Palmer "The Art of Asking"

The Art of Asking

This artist is very inspiring - enjoy!

Asking for Help - Part 3

I still haven't had any brilliant insights/solutions - for myself - around the subject of economical resources, ie. how to fund my life.

I put a donate button on my blog with the vague notion of following in the footsteps of some amazing bloggers and try to eek out a living from my writing.  I mean, eventually.  Perhaps.

However, as soon as I put up that donate button and began to view my writing as some kind of fiscal resource for myself, I lost motivation to write.  I think that's interesting.  This also applies to jobs I've had, and businesses I've tried to launch myself.  As soon as the dollar bill becomes part of the equation, the motivation to DO leaves the building.

I continue to read my favorite blogs and even though these two blog writers are requesting funds and do so without any outward appearances of awkwardness, I still sense a justification of value.  I could be wrong.  I'm sure the readers appreciate hearing what is going on, but I thought the point of knowing our own value is not to justify it but to own it.  (no judgment - I am observing and learning)

I definitely carry around a creepy feeling inside me that tells me I'm not worth anything unless I am producing something of value which is reflected in monetary funds.

I like D's post here about value:
